Toyota invested $850 million building the manufacturing facility in San Antonio which produces the full-size Tundra pickup. Tundra production started November 17, 2006. Bringing this many additional jobs to San Antonio created increased construction of multi-family housing and brought new residential neighborhood developments to south Bexar county. San Antonio had a number of overnight millionaires. Families that lived on 15 acres of land near the Toyota facility suddenly lived on 653,400 square feet of prime real estate. The real estate brokerage community descended on this south San Antonio area in record time and a lot of money changed hands. This part of Bexar county still has a record number of for sale signs with a lot of property up for grabs. The value of the Toyota property increased by around 400% in one year. Speculation as for future land values around the Toyota facility is beyond the capability of this site owner.
