North Star Mall

North Star Mall has been in San Antonio for many years and almost next door to the airport. Although there have been many changes to the mall over the years, it has withstood the test of time and continues to be a shopping attraction for the citizens of Texas and beyond.

North Star Mall is home to another landmark familiar to all San Antonians, a 40-foot tall pair of cowboy boots. You'd come to expect a Texas size shopping mall with a pair of Texas size cowboy boots in front of a Saks Fifth Avenue. These boots are the largest boots anywhere in the world.

Shopping

North Star Mall has around 200 shops and stores. Big name department stores are at this mall as well. Currently, the large department stores at North Star are Saks, Macy's, Dillard's, and Mervyn's. Other mall stores range from specialty items and apparel to footwear and jewelry. When you need a break from shopping ar need to grab a bite to eat, the food court has an expansive selection of concessions and restaurant counters.

When parking at North Star Mall, the back (south side), is generally a better option. There is a parking garage on the southwest and southeast corners of the mall. Trying to park in the front (facing Loop 410) can be difficult because the parking lot next to Saks and in front of the Cheesecake Factory is all valet and makes for a real problem. The valet lot is never full other than the Christmas holidays but it really is ridiculous to take up that much space. Shopping at North Star Mall? Park in the back.

*North Star Mall Traffic - Location

The traffic around North Star Mall can get pretty hectic. Also, the construction on loop 410 makes for a hard wait when you need to get some shopping done so try an alternate route to get to the mall. There is currently traffic on San Pedro and Loop 410 so the exits on 410 (westbound) make for a long wait. If possible, exit from 410 (eastbound) for a shorter wait.
