San Antonio Italian Food Restaurants

San Antonio has a number of quality Italian restaurants serving traditional Italian dishes as well as numerous local pizza places offering a wide variety of pizzas and Italian recipes. Although not as plentiful as Mexican restaurants, the Italian food here is just as good and easy to come by.

Paesano's

Italian food in a very upscale setting. Paesano's serves veal, seafood, beef, and chicken dishes from authentic family recipes and is known for its Paesano sauce. My favorite is the shrimp Paesano. It's not a big dish but the Paesano sauce truly is delicious. It's always packed at Paesano's as the Italian food at this eatery is outstanding and the atmosphere has been described as "swanky". Capparelli's

Capparelli's Restaurant is a local favorite for good Italian food. Traditional spaghetti and pasta dishes are available at Capparelli's and their pizzas are thick and cheesy. Capparelli's on Main is the more upscale of their restaurants but the Italian food at each of their locations is tasty and freshly prepared. The meatballs, salads, and pizzas all have one thing in common...they're huge. This Italian restaurant has several locations and has always been a local San Antonio favorite for Italian food. Florio's Pizza

This pizza place is fantastic and highly recommended. All pizzas are hand tossed New York style thin crust. I've been eating Florio's pizza for several years and have yet to buy one pizza that wasn't awesome. The family who owns it is from New Jersey and they really bring out the flair in this great pizza place. . If you're going to have pizza in San Antonio, try Florio's.

Ciao Lavanderia

In Italian, the name of this restaurant translates to "goodbye laundromat" because the previous occupant was a laundromat but the food and atmosphere is far from that of a washateria. The menu has three price levels - $6, $12, and $16 consisting of pizzas, pasta dishes and more extravagant plates like quail and braised duck. The calzone is one of the best we've found anywhere with chunks of tomato, fresh mozzarella, and flavorful Italian sausage. The wine list at Ciao Lavanderia is extensive with bottles available in all price ranges but the option to bring your own is available with a $15 corking fee. Ciao Lavanderia is an excellent choice for Italian food in San Antonio. Again, the calzones are out of this world.
