The Mexican food restaurants listed here are the places that aren't necessarily heard of or easily found. These restaurants are the places that locals often frequent and you won't necessarily hear or know about them unless you know about the "hole in the wall" you're looking for.
Located near Alamo Heights on Sunset Road, this Mexican food restaurant really has a reputation among locals as a great place for breakfast tacos. Across from Home Depot.

This hole in the wall is great. The mexican food is authentic but the service can be a little slow. I had the quesadillas recently. They are deep fried and covered in a spicy queso type sauce. I've had the enchiladas and fajitas in the past and both are fantastic. Cristina's prepares their food a little on the spicy side. It's a little far out of the way but this Mexican restaurant is worth the trip.

One of the best places in San Antonio for fish tacos. Although it's a seafood restaurant, it has a Mexican flavor to it. The fish tacos have sliced avocado and pico de gallo over grilled fish. The corn tortillas are small but three are in an order. Accompanied by hot and spicy rice, the fish tacos from J. Anthony's are among San Antonio's best.
