Garden Ridge
Located on San Antonio's northeast side, adjacent to Bracken, this beautiful hill country community is known to many only by it's famous store, Garden Ridge Pottery when in reality, Garden Ridge sits on the very edge of the Texas hill country and is home to the famous shopping venue and beautiful homes that share the area with deer and wildlife.
Garden Ridge - Comal County
The Garden Ridge area, before becoming a residential municipality, was a ranching community. Several smaller ranches are visible in the area and can be seen in some of the older parts of Garden Ridge such as Nacogdoches Loop, which is off of Nacogdoches Road, before it becomes F.M. 2252. The old stone ranch houses and barns are surrounded by aged farming and ranching equipment adding to the charm of Garden Ridge.
The terrain of Garden Ridge is a split between rough hill country contour to the north and gently rolling hills to the south. The town sits on a beautiful dividing line between two Texas topographical landscapes. This is evident driving along Nacogdoches Road and F.M. 2252. F.M. 3009 divides Garden Ridge running north and south between IH 35 and the Texas Hill Country (Garden Ridge Aerial Map).
Neighborhoods of Garden Ridge
The beautiful neighborhoods of Garden Ridge consist of Trophy Oaks, Forest Waters, Twisted Oaks, Country Oak Estates, Regency Oaks and Garden Ridge Estates. Much like Hill Country Village, Garden Ridge homeowners share their yards with whitetail deer and other wildlife. Many of these homes are on sizeable lots and are perfectly manicured. The neighborhood of Forest Waters has a large lake where I've seen geese before and I'm sure that there may be some fishing enthusiasts in the neighborhood as the lake looks quite appealing to an angler. In all, the neighborhoods of Garden Ridge offer a small town country atmosphere with all the convenience of a big city living given its proximity to San Antonio...let's not forget Garden Ridge Pottery.
