Braunig Lake
Braunig Lake is a 1,350 acre lake South of San Antonio managed by the San Antonio River Authority. Many people enjoy this lake for fishing and recreation. Lighted piers extend far into the water for enhanced fishability. Another great thing about this lake is there is a relatively small amount of boat traffic on the lake. The park surrounding the lake is ideal for family get togethers and picnics.
The power plant at Braunig Lake offers a fishing opportunity unique to power plant lakes. As the temperatures fall, fishing the hot water outlet can provide some good fishing for anglers braving the cold weather. The fish species in Braunig Lake consist of Black Bass, Catfish, Striped Bass, and Redfish.
The lake has a boat ramp for angler access and numerous camping sites. Braunig Lake is managed by the City Public Service Board of San Antonio. Braunig Lake, along with Calaveras Lake, used to be stocked with Orangemouth Corvina, a fish that may still be caught in these waters.
