The Airport Convention Center plays host to many different kinds of shows and bargain shopping opportunities in San Antonio. The name implies something other than shopping but as far as we are aware, the Airport Convention Center is used for shopping shows only. The spacious building is somewhat of an "impromptu" shopping center. There is always something new and interesting to buy ranging from antiques to computers. Located just outside North Loop 410 on Broadway, the Airport Convention Center is easy to find. The Broadway exit on 410 eastbound is currently closed due to construction so please make adjustments to your route when visiting the Airport Convention Center.
Airport Convention Center Shopping and Shows
Throughout the year, the San Antonio Airport Convention Center rents space out to traveling shopping shows. we have been to a number of these shows and can attest to the uniqueness of the items and products being sold. Some of the shows that frequent the Airport Convention Center include:
- Computer items - used hardware, software and computer systems
- Antiques - various antique items and trinkets
- Wholesale Jewelry Shows
- Outdoor Sporting Items
- Gun Shows - Saxet Gun Show
The Saxet Gun Show is held at the Airport Convention Center the first weekend of every month. Saxet shows bring together a very interesting group of vendors and shoppers. The parking lot gets packed for this gun show and by looking at the vehicles in the lot, one has quite a good indication of what's going on inside without having to see the sign.
The San Antonio Airport Convention Center is definitely off the beaten path as far as shopping goes. Sometimes it functions as more of a temporary flea market while other times it offers a first class opportunity to find rare coins and antiques.
